When does the school day start and end?

The school day begins promptly at 8:00am and ends at 2:20pm. Breakfast is available from 7:30am-8:00am.

How are students admitted into P.S. 176?

PS 176Q is a zoned school. Zoned schools enroll students who live right near the school. You can find your zoned school at this website using your home address. You may call the school directly at 718-525-4057 to schedule a registration appointment.

What is the 3K, Pre-K, and K admissions process?

Families who would like to enroll their child in 3K, Pre-K or Kindergarten should participate in the application process that opens up each Winter. How do I arrange for school bus service for my child?

School bus service is available to students beginning in kindergarten. Bussing eligibility is based on a student's grade level, walking distance between home and school, and other existing accommodations. NYC Public Schools Transportation Eligibility. What is the uniform policy at PS 176?

P.S. 176 is a uniform school. Students are expected to be in uniform on a daily basis.  The uniform is as follows:

What after school programs are available at PS 176?

For families requiring extended day services, we recommend that you sign up with the for-fee after school program (Community Youth Care Services Inc.) housed within our school building. Additional information regarding the program can be found at cycsi.org.

How do you support students with Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs)?

PS 176 can accommodate a wide range of IEPs. Currently we offer SETSS, OT (occupational therapy), PT (physical therapy), speech therapy, and counseling on-site. Additionally, we have self-contained and Integrated Co-Teaching classrooms to support all grades. Please contact the school at (718) 525-4057 for more information.

What is your policy on cell phones and other tech devices?

Please note that we strongly encourage students to leave all devices (cell phones, smartwatches and earpods) at home. Students in K-2 who bring in a device will be mandated to leave devices turned off and in their backpacks. Students in grades 3 through 5 will be mandated to lock their devices in a designated box in their classroom until dismissal.
